There will be a special ‘spirit of the show’ award made at Convoy in the Park to the truck and driver who are judged to epitomise the ethos of the event.
Convoy in the Park is all about trucks and their drivers. In the truck show there will be highly polished airbrushed cabs, chrome and lights galore. There will also be trucks that are their driver’s pride and joy, which have been cleaned after a hard week’s work, but haven’t have had thousands of pounds spent on extras or custom paintwork.
These drivers attend to be part of the social gathering, often bringing their families and meeting up with friends and colleagues to show their trucks and enjoy the weekend. Many of these drivers do not expect to be in the winners parade, they go to show their trucks for the fun of it.
Truck & Driver believes these entrants are the spirit of Convoy in the Park: they create the buzz, the fun and the laughter that makes the event such a spectacle.
So there is a prize category that the drivers cannot enter: all trucks at the event will be judged, although no-one will know when they are being judged – or who by.
The winner will be the truck and driver that in the judges’ view epitomises the spirit of Convoy in the Park. Obviously, having a nice clean truck will help, as will being seen to have fun. The winner will be presented with a special trophy – which is a genuine vintage Mack hood ornament – and a cash prize on the Sunday afternoon.
